If you are the kind of person who enjoys a bit of sitting alone and thinking, the inescapable ultimate question is sure to have taken some of your time. The quest for the answer to life, the universe, and everything is in all of us.
Humankind (excuse me, for I don’t want to sound sexist with "mankind" or "womankind") had always been on this quest, as the history of philosophy tells you. The numerous potential paths to the answer took varying forms as time went on. Some took the form of philosophy and some came to be known under the broad category of science. And some took its way through religions. Different paths, same intent.
I understand that such a view might not appear natural to everyone and I am very much interested to know your possible views on the matter. That’s why I have come up with this blog, which is more like a forum, where all of you are invited to post your comments on life, the universe and everything.
Fans of Douglas Adams might already know the answer to the ultimate question on life, the universe, and everything - Its 42! .For the less informed, the story goes like this:
Researchers from a pan-dimensional, hyper-intelligent race of beings, construct Deep Thought, the second greatest computer all time and space, to calculate the Ultimate Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything. After seven and a half million years of pondering over the question, Deep Thought provides the answer: "forty-two"!!
"Forty-two!" yelled Loonquawl. "Is that all you've got to show for seven and a half million years' work?"
"I checked it very thoroughly," said the computer, "and that quite definitely is the answer. I think the problem, to be quite honest with you, is that you've never actually known what the question is."
And thus begins the search for the ultimate question by constructing an even bigger computer with the help of Deep Thought. But the experiment could not be completed. But all was not lost as Arthur Dent (the hitchhiker, who was part of the experiment) could retrieve from his brain a hint to the ultimate question.
The hint to the ultimate question (the answer being already found out – 42!!) was: “What is six into nine?”
sixintonine is, thus, the ultimate question to the ultimate answer to life, the universe and everything!!
Obviously, any one with even a mouse’s brain knows that 6x9 is not the same as 42. There is only explanation to this, as Arthur puts it: "I always said there was something fundamentally wrong with the universe."
Lets find out whether that explanation really has any meaning. Lets explore more!
Cheers!
